6 Favorite Scrubs for the Winter

Having a decent skin care routine is vital! You may be cleansing, moisturizing and slathering on sunscreen – but if you’re not exfoliating correctly, and your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be.

As we age, our cell renewal slows down tremendously. This means that you probably have old skin cells piling up on the surface of your skin making it look dull, parched and bumpy. Furthermore, it can also result in congested pores leading to blemishes. What proper exfoliation does for you is, it eliminates the layer of dead skin cells and uncovers the fresh new cells giving you a more glowy and radiant look. In short, regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking renewed and healthy.

Exfoliation is important at all times. In the winter, it becomes a necessity as the humidity levels in the air drop significantly. This is why your skin dries out, lips chap and you have dry flaky skin in your hands and legs. I have oily skin but I’ve noticed the areas around the nose and mouth getting incredibly dry and peeling in the winter months. So regardless of what skin type you have, to keep your skin replenished … EXFOLIATE.

Below is a list of my favorite scrubs of all time. They are effective and you will notice a difference in your skin overtime.

Leaves your skin thoroughly cleansed and absorbs excess oil.

  • Unclogs pores
  • Tightens skin

You will find your skin a little tight and dry after using this, so use a good moisturizer after. It’s called a cleanser but it is too harsh to be used as a cleanser, so I use it as a scrub. I use it once a week before putting on a face mask.

Inexpensive scrub for the body

  • The apricot kernels are perfect for exfoliating the body
  • Leaves skin soft

I don’t recommend using this for the face as it is too abrasive for the face. I use it on alternate days in the shower.

Perfect scrub for the face and body.

  • It’s not harsh so it can be used on the face as well.
  • Smells citrusy and great.
  • The avocado butter and coconut oil leave your skin soft even after you wash it off.

My mom and I love this scrub. It is so refreshing! I like to use it sometimes in the morning after my cleanser to awaken my skin and help it look fresh throughout the day.

Mild scrub

  • Perfect for the body
  • Smells amazing

Personally there’s not many products from thebodyshop that I like but I’ve been using this scrub for 2 years now and it has never failed me. It is the scrub I go for when I’m doing a pedicure or for pamper sessions. I don’t know if it’s just me, but my skin looks fairer after using the scrub. I use it once a month.

Ahh yes, I love lush. These lip scrubs are great and they really work. Yes you can make them at home but this is cute and perfect for the handbag. I love using this before using a liquid lipstick or whenever my lips feel dry. You will always find one in my handbag.

This scrub is so easy to make and has been a part of my skin care routine for years now.You will need: oats, rice flour and milk powder.

Mix them in equal quantities and store it in an air tight container. I keep the container on my sink in the bathroom and every morning, I would just wash my face and put on a thick layer of this scrub. After 5 mins, exfoliate in circular motions and wash.It is so effective and has improved my skin so much! A must try!

(This is only my opinion, you know you’re skin best so it’s up to you to decide)
